Na2[MO4(OH)2], where M = Ru, Os, and Hs (element 108) V. Pershina and J. V. Kratz *GSI, Darmstadt **Institut für Kernchemie, Universität Mainz Recent experiments on the chemical identification of element 108, Hs, have delivered straightforward evidence that it belongs to group 8 of the Periodic Table [1]. In the presence of oxygen, Hs formed HsO4 which was deposited in a gas-phase chromatography column at a temperature somewhat higher than that of OsO4, thus confirming its chemical similarity with the latter and the high volatility. In more recent experiments [2] with volatile tetroxides, HsO4 was shown to react with moisturized NaOH forming very probably the sodium hassate (VIII), Na2[HsO4(OH)2], by analogy with Na2[OsO4(OH)2] according to the reaction

A computational study of cycloaddition reactions of d8 metal tetroxide (iron, ruthenium, osmium) complexes with C60.

The potential energy surfaces of the cycloaddition reactions MO(4)(NC(5)H(5))(2) + C(60)→ MO(4)(NC(5)H(5))(2)(C(60)) (M = Fe, Ru, and Os) have been studied at the B3LYP/LANL2DZ level of theory. It has been found that there should be two competing pathways in these reactions, which can be classified as a [6,5]-attack (path A) and a [6,6]-attack (path B). Our theoretical calculations indicate tha...

Three new inorganic-organic hybrid materials based on heteropolyoxometalates, [L-C6H14NO2]3[(PO4)Mo12O36].3H2O (1), [L-C5H10NO2]3[(PO4)W12O36].H2O (2), and [C2H7N2O]3[(PO4)W12O36]. 4H2O (3), where C6H14NO2, C5H10NO2, and C2H7N2O are protonated L-leucine, L-proline, and methylurea, respectively, have been synthesized and structurally characterized by some physico-chemical methods. Elemental anal...

Voltammetry of [R(4)N](4)[M(18)O(54)(SO(3))(2)] and [Ru(bpy)(3)](2)[M(18)O(54)(SO(3))(2)] (M = Mo, W) as microcrystals adhered to a glassy carbon electrode surface in contact with ionic liquid media.

Based on studies with microcrystals of [Ru(bpy)(3)](2)[alpha-W(18)O(54)(SO(3))(2)] adhered to an electrode surface in contact with the ionic liquids [BMIM][PF(6)] and [BMIM][BF(4)], it has been found that a series of well defined monoelectronic reduction processes associated with the tungsten-oxo cage of the [alpha-W(18)O(54)(SO(3))(2)](4-) species are observed at much less negative potentials ...

Effect of Mo Addition on Nanostructured Ni50Al50 Intermetallic Compound Synthesized by Mechanical Alloying

The mechanical alloying process was used to synthesize the Ni50Al50−xMox nanocrystalline intermetallic compound using pure Ni and Al elemental powder. This process was carried out in the presence of various Mo contents as a micro-alloying element for various milling times. Structural changes of powder particles during mechanical alloying were studied by X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and scanning e...
